Ford made history by announcing the new features of the 2018 Ford EcoSport on Snapchat earlier this year. Although the sporty, smaller SUV is minute inside, it packs a powerful punch under the hood and with impressive technological advancements for 2018, making the new Ford EcoSport one of the more anticipated new vehicles arriving on Ford dealership lots later this fall.
For those not familiar with the Ford EcoSport, essentially it's a cross between a Ford Escape and Fiesta hatchback, with upgraded suspension and road clearance to handle roads paved and non-paved. The rear gate swings open horizontally like a door as opposed to a vertical hatchback, which offers a bit more space for cargo, groceries and personal storage space.
For the new sales year, the 2018 Ford EcoSport will be available in four independent trim levels; S, SE, SES and the ultra-premium Titanium edition; which ads premium cabin amenities and upgraded chrome trim components. The sporty SES trim level includes magnetic gray wheel and grill treatments, tinted headlights, black roof rails w/crossbars and a unique copper accent on the dashboard and seats.
Under the hood, Ford offers a few different power-train options, starting with their direct-injected, turbocharged 1.0L Ecoboost three-cylinder, and front wheel drive powertrain. Although its small engine size might be intimidating, it provides quite a punch, with an estimated 99 to 120 horsepower. For those looking for a bit more meat, they can choose the 2.0-liter naturally aspirated edition with Ford's intelligent 4WD system that features an on-demand all-wheel drive system that is similar to the one found in the Ford Escape.
Both engine combinations feature a six-speed automatic transmission, which makes city and highway driving more comfortable and fuel-efficient. Four-wheel disc brakes are standard as are multiple safety systems that will be introduced at Ford dealerships upon arrival.
Perhaps one of the most impressive updates to this compact SUV is the technology improvements. For 2018, Ford is offering their popular B & O Play premium audio system with the EcoSport, a partnership program with Bang and Olufsen that delivers an impressive 675 watts of amplification and 10-speakers to the interior of the Titanium edition.
Additionally, consumers will be able to select Ford's Sync 3 software with FordPass, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration also available with the new 2018 Ford EcoSport. A pair of ultra-quick charging USB ports is also included under the dash and also optional 110-volt AC inverters for those needing to power laptops or larger devices while on the go.
For 2018, Ford has offered multiple upgrades and options for their popular compact SUV, which new car shoppers can see for themselves as the new 2018's begin to arrive to the dealership lots in early Fall. Visit your local Ford Dealership to learn more about the new 2018 Ford EcoSport.
