The truth is out there.
So goes the famous catchphrase for The X-Files, one of the most revered sci-fi TV series of all time. Now FBI special agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully can seek the truth in style in a Ford Explorer Platinum (pictured).
Mulder and Scully will tool around in the mid-size SUV throughout the series' six-episode run. Other Ford models, including the Escape, Mustang and Taurus, will also be featured in The X-Files reboot, thereby continuing the beautiful synergetic relationship that’s existed between Ford and X-Files showrunners dating back to the first incarnation of the iconic sci-fi series.
Ford Experiential Marketing Manager Ginger Kasanic further explicates the significance of the Ford/X-Files bond.
“Pairing the vehicle that set the bar for SUVs with the show that set the standard for sci-fi television is a great relationship,” said Kasanic in a statement. “To be a part of an iconic television show that is so technology-centric is a perfect fit for Explorer—a vehicle loaded with driver-assist technology.”
With a quarter-century of sales success, the Ford Explorer has been an American institution nearly as long as The X-Files itself. The newly introduced Platinum trim adds to the Explorer’s high standard of quality. It includes such features as front and rear cameras, enhanced park assist and a heated steering wheel.
For those readers who lived under a rock for the last twenty-odd years, The X-Files was a TV series that aired on the Fox Network from 1993 to 2002. In that time, two X-Files feature films were also produced. Since that time, Mulder and Scully went missing from both the small and big screens until their triumphant return 14 years later.
The first episode of the limited X-Files run aired on January 24, 2016. For a closer look at the Ford Explorer Platinum, catch the January 25 airing at 8 PM EST/ 5 PM PST.
