Everybody knows that F Series trucks are Ford’s hottest selling vehicles. But what is sometimes overlooked in the excitement, is the fact that Ford’s lineup of SUVs has increased in sales by 40% over the past five years. One of the leaders in that surge in popularity is the Expedition and in 2019, Ford has created two new reasons to consider the Expedition when looking for a full-size SUV.
At this year’s Texas State Fair, Ford rolled out two new special edition Expeditions: the Stealth and, appropriately enough for the venue, the Texas Edition. Why the Texas State Fair? It turns out that fully 25% of all Expeditions sold are sold in the Lone Star state (California ranks third behind Florida). Both of these editions are big, bad, beautiful, and packed with all the goodies anyone could want in an upscale SUV.
2019 Ford Expedition - Stealth Special Edition
Stealth is an interesting name to give to the special edition that is the easiest to identify thanks to its exterior appearance. The Stealth is all about gloss black accents. They’re everywhere; the grille, the headlamp housings, foglamp bezels, taillamp housing, mirror caps, roof rails, running boards, and rear bumper skidplate all receive a black gloss touch. Inside is based on the Limited trim with updated red stitching on the upholstery and body color door handles.
If you have a need to haul seven to eight passengers around Sacramento in upscale style, the sophisticated exterior and interior of the Stealth Special Edition is the ride for you.
2019 Ford Expedition – Texas Edition
People in Texas tow a lot of stuff. Horse trailers, boats, ATVs, and all kind of Lone Star toys up to 9,500 lbs. can be handled by Ford’s Heavy-Duty Tow Package, which comes as part of the Texas Edition trim. The Texas edition also comes with a cargo management system to optimize cargo space. Texans like a tall ride so Ford equipped this model with 22” alloy wheels wrapped in equally impressive rubber.
These are big SUVs and can be a challenge to parallel park, so Ford has included enhanced power parking assist that gets you into a parallel spot, automatically reverse perpendicular parks, and has forward, reverse, and side sensors.
But Wait…There’s More!
If you are going to give Expedition customers two hot options for 2019, you really should give the same deal to customers who don’t need the giant SUV and prefer the smaller Explorer.
2019 Ford Explorer – Limited Luxury Special Edition
Available on the Limited trim of the Explorer, this package upgrades the exterior with 20” alloy wheels and chrome mirror caps. But the real touch of luxury happens in the interior. The driver and passengers in this Explorer will be wrapped in Nirvana leather luxury. The seats have micro perforations on the seat and quilted stitching. The steering wheel receives upgraded leather as do the door inserts.
2019 Ford Explorer - Desert Copper Special Edition
Copper is trending. You can buy copper socks, shirts, knee and elbow braces, even underwear all in the name of improving performance. If you opt for a 2019 Explorer XLT you can get the Desert Copper edition with its 20” alloy wheels and a copper mine in the inside. It’s all about the seating. The front and second row seats get leather fronts with wide copper inserts and copper stitching. The third-row bench is black vinyl with copper accents. Leather door inserts round out the look.
