As drivers progress through life, what they need in an automobile often changes. But what that means is that drivers often have to sacrifice the quick and sporty models they had in their youth for larger and more practical models as they become family people. However, there is now one model that suggests maybe drivers can have it all, and that model is the 2014 Ford Explorer.
This new Explorer model will be able to reach speeds previously only associated with SUV models from high end manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. However, the Explorer will do so at a substantially lower price point. In addition to the engine's upgraded performance, the model has legitimate off-road capabilities, innovative included technologies, safety features, and of course, plenty of space for growing families.
The updated model will start under $30K for the base level trim, and the top level will start around $40K. The Sport trim features a brand-exclusive 3.5-liter Ecoboost V-6 engine that is not only responsive, but powerful as well coming in at a full 365 horsepower.
Another impressive (and unique) aspect of the Sport trim for the new Explorer is the Terrain Management System. This allows drivers to control the power to the wheels via a knob located on the center console, so drivers can have better control in the forms of Wet Grass mode, Snow mode, and Mud mode.
