Ford Turns to Sustainable Resources in Vehicle Production

Leave it to Ford to, once again, find a way to both make topnotch vehicles and recycle materials at the same time. Previously, the American automaker has made rubber for use in their vehicles from dandelions and gaskets from recycles tires and soy, and now they've found a way to create carpeting for their vehicles from plastic bottles.
Pretty soon Ford will be creating vehicles from entirely sustainable materials, something that we here at Elk Grove Ford fully support. The new carpeting is set to be used in the 2013 Ford Escape, which is impressive to know, as it seems like the 2012 Ford Escape just barely arrived on our lot at 9645 Auto Center Drive Elk Grove, CA 95757.
According to Laura Sinclair, a materials engineer at Ford, "The polyester fibers created from pop bottles make up a nonwoven carpet material...you have more fibers running on each other?that helps reduce wear."1
Another promising aspect of these new bottles is the fact that more bottles are used in their creation, the stronger they actually turn out to be in the end. So, as more bottles are recycled, the quality increases, forming a win-win situation for Ford, its customers, and the environment.
For now, you can learn more about the current Ford Escape or any other new Ford model by contacting us online or by phone at (888) 450-8331. After answering any questions you have, we can arrange test drives on specific models, such as the Ford Fiesta, Ford Ranger, and Ford Flex, as well as any of the used Ford models that we carry, amongst our greater lineup of used cars.
