The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), a U.S. non-profit organization, has named the 2011 Ford Explorer a TOP SAFETY PICK for 2011. The Ford Explorer is a long-time bestseller, earning top ratings in frontal impact tests since 2002. This is, however, the first time the Explorer has earned an official designation from the IIHS, receiving top ratings in frontal, side, and rear-impact tests, as well as roof strength tests.
